What areas do you cover?

Shamick Transport mainly operates in Victoria and extends Australia-wide.

Where are your depots located?

We currently have one depot located in Laverton North, Victoria. As we are not a general freight company, our fleet is generally parked at our depot. For inter-state transport, our drivers are required to follow fatigue rules and will then park up at designated rest areas.

*Note that the Southern Australian and the Tasmanian local government have yet to publish an official list of rest areas for heavy vehicles. We will update this list once they do.

    When do we need permits?

Permits are required for jobs that require the use of special routes/roads. This is usually the case for over-sized loads.

Our team has extensive experience in obtaining these special permits and we can definitely assist in securing one for your transport needs. Permit applications are approved within 28 days, depending on the load and the pick up and drop off location. Please take this into consideration when requesting for a quote.

    What are route inspections?

Route inspections are conducted prior to the actual transport of a load. This is usually required for over-sized loads and will be required in some permit applications.

Contact our team if you need assistance in conducting a route inspection.

    What is Over-Dimensional Freight?

Any load that exceeds the maximum legal length, width, height, and/or weight is considered to be over-dimensional. Over-dimensional loads will most likely require at least one pilot vehicle.

You can find more information about general mass and dimension limits from NHVR.

    What are pilot vehicles?

Also known as escort vehicles, the main role of a pilot vehicle is to make the transporting of over-dimensional loads safer for everyone on the road. Basically, pilot vehicles are required to warn other road users of the existence of an over-sized vehicle.

You can find more information about pilot vehicles from VicRoads.

When do we need to have pilots?

The number of pilots required will depend on the dimensions of the load. Please click here to see the graph as a reference.

    Do you have tracking services?

All of our trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art tracking equipment. Simply call our team at (03) 9369 9468 and we can let you know how your goods are tracking.

How much notice is required to complete a job?

We understand that some jobs are urgent and with our large fleet of trucks, notice can be as little as 2 hours. However, we would appreciate 24 hours notice as a minimum so we can service your needs to our fullest. Please note that some loads (especially over-sized ones) may require a permit which can take up to 28 days to secure.

    What are site inspections?

In some cases, we will need to conduct site inspections to ensure that our team and vehicles can access the pickup and drop off locations. We will advise clients before we conduct any inspections. Please contact our team for more information.

Do you provide Proof of Delivery?

Proof of Deliveries, also known as PODs or delivery dockets, are available on request. We would appreciate it if you inform us prior to the job being completed.

    Do you have insurance?

We take pride in our strict adherence to Health and Safety (OH&S) guidelines and this applies to everything that we transport. Our drivers ensure that all loads are secured properly and see to it that we deliver on-time and with no issues. Additionally, for your peace of mind, all loads to be transported by Shamick Transport will be covered by our Goods in Transit Insurance.
